Melbourne Zoo - 03-NOV-2014

Today we decided we'd go to the Zoo and see all of the animals. So we got organised and headed off; the weather was great (not too warm or cold) and we opted not to take jackets.

It's a short drive from Debbie's to the Zoo and Lily was looking forward to it as she'd heard there was a Butterfly house and lots of other animals to go and see.

First up were the Giraffes and Zebras:

which we managed to get to just as they were having dinner.

Next up were the Koala bears (and before you start I know they're marsupials, but when I was little they were bears, so they're bears OK). Again we were really lucky as they were awake and eating tea:

which consisted of shoots and leaves.

We then went to see the Emu:

and the "sleeping" Kangaroos:

By now Lily really wanted to go and see the Butterfly's but to get there we had to pass the Possums:

the elephants:

and the Tigers:

The Butterfly house was just around the corner and this turned out to be the main event.  Loads and loads of butterflies flying around were fantastic Lily even managed to have a couple of them land of her hat:

and her flowery top:

This really made her day :-))

The day was rounded off with a visit to the Penguins:

A little time in the park:

and a snooze in Uncle Ali's hammock:

Early night for Lily who was decided she was too tired for dinner and was asleep by 6pm.
